Forest City Green City Development Recognized As Finalist In Construction21 International Awards
On 23 July, the "2021 (3rd) Healthy Building Conference" was held in Beijing. Country Garden Forest City, located in Johor, Malaysia, won the Construction21 sustainable infrastructure grand prize of green solutions awards for its multiple sustainable solutions such as water recycling and biodiversity conservation, etc.
The conference was jointly organized by the Strategic Alliance for Technology Innovation in Healthy Building Industry, China Academy of Building Research and China Green Development Investment Group. The theme for this year is "Create a healthy and livable environment, enhance people's health protection". China Academy of Building Research General Manager Xu Jiefeng, China Green Development Investment Group General Manager Sun Yu and former Class 1 Inspector Ni Jiangbo of the Department of Standards and Quotations of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development attended the conference and delivered their speeches.

Construction21 International "Green Solutions Award" honors the world's most impactful engineering practices
During the event, Xu Jiefeng, General Manager of Construction21 (China) and Wang Qingqin, Chairman of the Healthy Building Alliance and Chairman of Construction21 (China), presented certificates to the finalists of the 8th Construction21 International "Green Solutions Awards". Construction21 AISBL, originated from the IEE (Intelligent Energy Europe) program of the European Union, was established in Belgium in 2012 as a non-profit organization with global influence in the building industry. It aims to promote the implementation of green, healthy and sustainable development concepts via organizations, research institutes and other stakeholders. The organization's "Green Initiative" is supported by the French Ministry of Energy, Environment and Sea, the Luxembourg Ministry of Environment, the Moroccan Ministry of Environment and other government agencies, as well as the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (GABC), the Buildings Performance Institute Europe (BPIE), the Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment (CSTB), the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB), the German Passive House Institute (PHI) and other international organizations and well-known enterprises dedicated to the field of sustainable development.
The Green Solutions Awards, initiated by Construction21 International, has been held for seven years now, with nearly 200 projects from around the world participating each year. Projects from China that have received the Green Solutions Awards include Shenzhen Contemporary Art Museum and Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport Terminal 1, and 2019 World Horticultural Expo in Beijing, China.
Forest City has gone through the national level evaluation and online voting, it was unanimously recognized for its innovative practices in water recycling, biodiversity conservation and other integrated sustainable solutions, and won the award in its first submission.

Since the beginning of its development, Forest City has always adhered to the concept of sustainable development and vigorously carried out environmental protection work and green ecological construction. Since 2014, Forest City has been continuously cooperating with professional environmental consultant AES, hydrological consultant DHI, Universiti Putra Malaysia and other research institutions to monitor the surrounding ecology, hydrology, seagrass, etc, and improve the surrounding marine ecosystem. As an advocate of Sponge City, Forest City built a water recycling system to utilize the treat the used water and use it for irrigation of roof gardens, vertical greenery, outdoor landscapes, as well as public toilets flushing, etc. Wastewater recycling has significant environmental and economic benefits. In addition to the environmental protection initiatives, Forest City is also actively promoting a green culture. Green and Vibrant City Forest City Receives Over 10 International Awards for its green efforts
In conjunction with the opening of the Eco Museum, Forest City published Forest City Ecological Development Action Plan. This plan outlined the mission of Forest City ecological development, and clearly defined the goals and targets of eco city development, operation and management. Following this plan, Forest City has applied green ecological concept throughout the development, from green architecture, marine eco system protection, to the choice of construction methods, all reflecting its positioning as a green and smart industrial-integrated city.
To date, Forest City has won more than 10 international awards for environmental protection, including Sustainable Cities And Human Settlements Award (SCAHSA) for five consecutive years, the Asian Townscape Award twice, and GreenRE Sustainable Design Award 2018 Gold Certification won by Forest City Island 1 and Shattuck-St. Mary’s Forest City International School Multi Use Centre respectively. These awards are recognition of the green construction of Forest City. Forest City said that it will continue to devote itself to urban development and ecological protection, carry out green infrastructure development as a foundation, leverage on high-tech industries to enhance urban economic development, and eventually become a green and vibrant city with diversified industries and cultures.
